nachtegaal cultural projects is an initiative to promote the acquiring and supporting of contemporary art and artists in a sustainable way. it is a care project that aims to build nurturing relationships between collectors, institutions, and artists. we, collectively, value connection, trust, and long-term support rather than transactional relationships.
from the founder
my name is Daria Kobzeva. I am an art historian and museum worker with five years of experience in different capacities, from archival specialist to exhibitions producer. most recently, I was an intern at the research and curatorial practice department at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, where I studied materials from Nikolai Khardzhiev’s library. I hold a research master’s degree in Art and Visual Culture from Radboud University, Nijmegen. My interests include global art histories, personal and institutional archives, migrant aesthetics, and the historical avant-garde in europe.why nachtegaal
I started nachtegaal projects inspired by my practice and wanting to influence the lives of collectors and artists for the better, on both sides, by bringing patronage, reason, soul, and friendship back together in the creation of art collections. the name nachtegaal comes from the Ukrainian [СОЛОВЕЙ], my mother’s maiden name. it represents care, guidance, nurture, and nature, but also stamina, sound, beauty, hope and unmapped migration routes. it carries a sense of our unspoiled childhoods, filled with birdsong and ideas of futures we wish for.
